Loudoun Hill Walk

Las Ramblas Ramblers officially start 2011 with a gentle stroll to Loudoun Hill
Musical accompaniment by Gary's childhood friend Robert Johnson who sadly couldn't attend
Gillian,Alison,June,Bruce,Marion,Avril,Gary,Neil & Sam
head to East Ayrshire, in keeping with tradition Neil got lost.
Sean what's happening weather wise
"Hold onto your hat's Lasramblas is going to be a blustery day on top of the Hill's".
Loudoun Hill, is a cap of rock on a lush green hillside. It is in reality a volcanic plug and is located in East Ayrshire, most famous for the battle that was fought there. The way Loudoun Hill is situated and the height it has, gives it a great tactical advantage point. From the top of Loudoun Hill, one can see complete 360 degree views. And this very reason is why the battle of Sir William Wallace against the English took place. He defeated them successfully in the year 1296. On a sloped hillside that sits aside Loudoun Hill is a monument that is dedicated to Wallace.

The hills height tops out at 1,036 feet

The curious case of the Missing Handbag
As all experienced Ramblers will know a handbag is the most important item to carry with you when out in the wild and Gillian as always was well prepared today, or so she thought, however as we exited the  forest heading to the Seven Falls she realised this life saving piece of kit had been mislaid. Do we carry on regardless and risk death or retrace our steps in an attempt to retrieve the missing portmanteau,
Alfie was on the case striding out ahead using all of his deductive powers he found the bag just where Alison for reasons best known to herself had ducked behind a bush. Paisley could sleep easy tonight everything was well with the world and we could retire to the Uplawmoor hotel for a refreshment.

Due to the abrupt termination of this walk  it is continued on
